Progress Report for Ann
Ann completed her 33rd and last radiation treatment this past Monday, April 29th.   Thank you so much to many of you who have been praying for Ann’s treatment and healing.   Thank you also for the emails and cards with such encouraging words.  We apologize if we didn’t get back to you to thank you personally.   We have some great news.  When the doctors were proceeding to perform the first of four internal radiation treatments, the doctor in charge announced that they couldn’t continue and wouldn’t be able to do any internal treatments because there was no tumor to be found.  What an answer to prayer.  They added on eight extra external radiations, but that is now all behind us completely.  They had earlier cancelled chemo treatments and this was also good news for us.
Speaking Engagements
Ann is now looking great and feeling fine.  We are now quite ready to travel and speak about our project EWCV wherever we are invited to speak.   We have a power point presentation available to share if a projector is made available.  Ann has two more doctor’s appointments, one in June and one July 30th for the three month follow up.  Then, good Lord willing, with a good bill of health being clean of cancer, we will be ready to return to Uganda in August if we can get tickets back as soon as possible.  We have booked a speaking engagement for May 26th here in Winnipeg and will be visiting our home church, Parkside Gospel Church on Sunday, May 12th.  We are planning a trip to Moose Jaw, SK, to visit sister Gloria Bassett and her clan during the week of May 13th to 18th.
Other than that we are open to invitations, even during the week, to speak in schools or small groups or individuals.  Our contact information is located at the end of this newsletter.
Sundays open are:  May 19th, June 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th, July 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th.

Half Marathon Run by Jaimee Schmidt
Jaimee Schmidt is a young lady working as a Civil Engineer in Brandon.  She was raised most of her life in Dauphin attending Parkside Gospel Church, our home church.   She has visited EWCV in Uganda now three times and is a member of the Canadian Board of EWCV.
She sponsors two orphaned children at EWCV.   If you wish to find out why Jaimee is running once again for EWCV and to perhaps sponsor Jaimee for her run, you can check out her blog with all the information needed:
Visitors with the Macris Family in Uganda
Dr. Haris Macris and Maria are hosting his mother, Alky Macris, along with brother Neil Macris, and others from Athens, Greece.   Neil and his team are working on constructing a shelter to cover the playground structure near the primary school of EWCV.   He will be the guest preacher on Sunday at Lubumba Community Church at the property and Alky will be speaking to the ladies on staff of EWCV sharing about her life as a missionary from Greece to the jungles of Irian Jaya some years ago with her husband, Costas Macris.  They later returned to Greece where they founded what is now known as Hellenic Ministries with her eldest son, Johnathan Macris, now serving as President.   Hellenic Ministries is nearly ready to open a medical clinic on the site of EWCV property with Dr. Haris Macris overseeing the project.  He has hired a local Ugandan Nurse, Mildred Kawuma, who is working three days a week presently using space in the primary school.  What a blessing and an answer to prayer for the children and staff of EWCV to have medical facilities right on the property.

Praise Items:

–   Thanking the Lord for all the provisions He has provided so far.

–   For the Clinic that will soon be opened.

–   To the donors who supplied donations for mattresses, sheets and hut roof repairs.

–   For all the volunteering services with Macris family and EWCV’s that have come and gone and those still there

–   Donation of clothing for the children

 Prayer Requests:

–   The Lord’s covering and protection over all our EWCV staff, children and volunteers as they carry on in our absence.

–   More sponsors

–   Provisions to finish Family 3 housing.

–   Provisions needed for upkeep and repairs

–   Safe trip back to Uganda
