Shelter

Two family units of buildings have been constructed on the EWCV site and the buildings for the third family of children are well underway .  Each unit accommodates 24 children and their house parents. Our goal is that at least 10 such family compounds will eventually be constructed, each accommodating 24 children.

A family unit consists of four sleeping huts, a dining/fellowship hut, a house for the house parents, a kitchen, , and outdoor latrines. The cost of one such family unit of buildings is approximately $97,000 CAD. The EWCV buildings have solar electricity.  Water is piped in from the nearby town of Lukaya, and a well has been drilled on the property.  A water purification system and storage tanks have been installed.  Rain water, used for washing, is collected and stored in an underground cistern.
